Margaret Honda

Margaret Honda is an artist based in Los Angeles who directs attention to quiet systems of everyday experience. For the Claver House Community Garden, Honda placed two curved benches and a brick pathway along newly planted trees. The project responds to residents’ desire for a shady, green space for rest and relaxation. The form of the benches draws local inspiration from Isamu Noguchi’s sculpted lobby ceiling at the U-Haul facility on South Kingshighway Boulevard. The bricks are sourced from buildings in The Ville damaged by the May 2025 tornado, materials from the National Building Arts Center, and the site of the 2025 Crunden Martin building fire along the Mississippi Riverfront.

The project was built by Irakoze Tuckpointing, and the trees were provided by Forest ReLeaf of Missouri.
