Timmy Simonds

Timmy Simonds is a North American artist based in New York City. His work moves between sculpture, performance, writing, and teaching. An ongoing project, Miss Othmar School for Teachers, has appeared as installations, teaching-tools, and meetings with different teacher communities including Dia Art Foundation’s guides, Pratt Institute’s faculty, and Recess’s Assembly Fellows. His reflections on teaching have also been the focus of shows he’s curated (Airhead, P.P.O.W. 2024) and his writing (Prepositions, co-authored with Aaron Lehman, Montez Press, 2024).

Other institutions, galleries, and publication that have shared his work include Emily Harvey Foundation, Kai Matsumiya, Cathouse Proper, Montez Press Radio, Wave Farm, Brooklyn Public Library, ICA London, e-flux, SARA’S, PIN-UP, Greene Naftali, Rond-Point Projects, Special Special, Burlington City Arts, Museo de Arte Carillo Gil, Fall River MoCA, Cleopatra’s, Spencer Brownstone, and Knockdown Center. In 2024, Simonds was awarded a NYSCA Artist Grant for his radio work with Montez Press Radio and Wave Farm’s WGXC, 90.7 FM Acra. He recieved an MA in Performance Studies from Brown University and teaches regularly at Pratt Institute between art and writing.
