Sandra Brewster is a Canadian artist based in Toronto. Of Guyanese heritage, Brewster’s practice reflects a multilayered sense of identity shaped by the intersection of place and time. Her work spans a range of media and often evokes movement metaphorically through imagery and gesture, foregrounding and monumentalizing the Black diasporic experience.

She earned her BFA from York University and holds a Master of Visual Studies from the University of Toronto. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections, and she has exhibited internationally.

Brewster is the recipient of the Gattuso Prize (CONTACT 2017), the Toronto Friends of Visual Arts Artist Prize (2018), and the prestigious Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award (2024).
