Kristen Oyer

Born and raised in St. Louis, Kristen began developing her marketing skills and practice during undergrad as an art major with a minor in creative writing at a liberal arts college in Illinois. During 2020, she was able to grow her studio practice and cultivate a community of social media followers. In the summer of 2022, Kristen created “Extra Credit,” a curriculum and built a local retreat supporting other creatives’ marketing knowledge and art appreciation. The following fall, she joined the Counterpublic team ahead of the 2023 triennial edition, building marketing strategies, developing organizational communications practices, and elevating and working with fellow art platforms to highlight St. Louis as an arts town. In August 2025, she launched the St. Louis City chapter of Silent Book Club.

Since 2023, Kristen has continued on with Counterpublic, leading programs, developing campaigns, orchestrating documentation, and partnering with fellow local marketing community members. When she takes a break from being chronically online, Kristen spends time in beloved local coffee shops, in Tower Grove Park and the Botanical Garden, and reading literary fiction.
