Inès Kivimäki
Inès Kivimäki (b.1990, France) is a Finnish- Algerian artist based in Los Angeles. Her work examines the threshold between the tangible and the imagined. Through an iterative, transmedial process, and drawing on the language of magical realism, she introduces subtle disruptions into familiar scenes. Her practice reflects on the ubiquity of corporate environments and the synthetic technologies that inhabit them. Working through installations and recurring interventions in situ, Kivimäki’s works explore how screens, networks, and (in)visible systems permeate our most intimate spaces, while gradually reshaping perception and our self-image. The artist’s recent solo and group exhibitions include Giovanni’s Room (LA), Paramount-Artcraft (LA), Soldes (LA), Plicnik Space (London), Treignac Projet (Treignac), Sans Titre (Paris), Tonus (Paris), Fulcrum (LA), and Phase Gallery (LA). She holds an MFA in Visual Art from UC Riverside and currently co-runs the project space Timeshare in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles.
