Alexis Rivierre

Alexis Rivierre is a multidisciplinary storyteller, educator, and art administrator. Her art practice functions within the expanded field of painting, utilizing a range of media from photography to textiles and performance to disrupt socially constructed narratives on Black experiences through her fractured narrative process. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at STNDRD (Granite City, Il), Museum Blue (St. Louis, MO), Wayfarers Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), The Ulrich Museum of Art (Wichita, KS), and Center [3] Artistic + Social Practice in Ontario, Canada. Rivierre holds an MFA in Studio art with an emphasis in painting from Wichita State University and a BFA in art with a minor in Art History from Missouri State University.

Rivierre teaches foundation art classes as an adjunct professor at York College and Suffolk County Community College in New York. Rivierre has partnered with museums and arts organizations, like the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, to uplift socially marginalized communities through developing exhibitions, arts, and educational programming that addresses practical needs through advocacy, resources, and opportunities.
