About PARC
Founded by St. Louis–based designer Christopher C. Loss, the People’s Art and Recreation Center (PARC) is a community organization working to create a more connected, healthy, and creatively fulfilled St. Louis through programming in the city’s public parks and recreation spaces. Over the past year, PARC has hosted pop-up workshops and recreation events at the Tandy Community Center to blend art and play. This project will culminate in a community exhibition that includes objects made in the workshops, as well as archival materials about the neighborhood’s historic athletes. Tandy Community Center is one of seven city-owned recreation spaces and serves as a cornerstone of The Ville neighborhood. It remains a hub of activity, including boxing classes, basketball leagues, swimming, arts programming, and seasonal camps.
