Counterpublic offers funded fellowships for students and postgraduate applicants.
Current Fellowships include:
Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts Counterpublic Fellowship
The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and Counterpublic created a new fellowship program for first-year graduate students enrolled in the Sam Fox Graduate MFA-VA program. The year-long fellowship places a current MFA-VA student within the Counterpublic team to engage with artists and community, gain firsthand knowledge of the exhibition process, and support public programming in order to advance both their professional skills and their own artistic practice.
The Growing Griot Fellowship
With the support of the Mellon Foundation, Counterpublic piloted a full-time fellowship at The Griot Museum of Black History in St. Louis, MO. The fellowship endows a position for two years to develop new, and nurture existing, programmatic engagements, educational outreach, and community partnerships, and supporting conservation efforts. The fellow works full-time at The Griot with additional mentorship from the St. Louis Art Museum to learn conservation techniques to be applied in a new conservation plan for The Griot.
